Well we didn’t get as much snow as they predicted but at least we got some

Well we didn’t get as much snow as they predicted but at least we got some. Our volunteers will be out grooming when they can.

Please beware that there is still a water hole on ITS82 connector between Lohnes farm road and the outlet bridge. Hopefully with the cold nights coming it will freeze up. Also we still haven’t heard back from the landowner between the park and ride and meadow brook where we meet Andover on ITS82. We are still trying to obtain permission. Please be patient we are trying our best. Thank you

UPDATE: We just got permission from the landowner. We can now connect to Andover on ITS82

We finally got some snow

We finally got some snow. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough. Also unfortunately we still won’t be able to open. We are trying! From Byron south is still way to thin to do anything with. Truck roads should be decent but any woods trails are rough. Way to many rocks, open water holes, and water bars. We need more snow and cold weather to allow stuff to freeze up

The guys have been doing more groomer maintenance. The tractor has had all fluid and filters changed and new runners on the drag. The Tucker had some more electrical gremlins. A new wire harness was installed, a hydraulic leak fixed, and one of the hydraulic banks were repaired. Thank you to all who have worked on the groomers

Photos from Slippery Sliders Snowmobile Club of Roxbury/Byron Maine’s post
Lots of heavy wet snow here in Byron. I measured 21 inches around 10am. From what I saw around my yard there’s going to be a lot of down trees and branches on the trails. The ground isn’t totally frozen so there’s going to be some nasty wet holes. We will be working towards clearing and packing trails. We will keep you posted on our progress.

With tomorrow’s storm we want to remind everyone that our trails will still be closed

With tomorrow’s storm we want to remind everyone that our trails will still be closed. Many hazards are still present. We will post when trails will be ready for you to ride.

ITS 117 reroute update: We are working close with the landowner. We will need to purchase a liability insurance policy, make a temporary fix to a bridge, and sign the entire 14 miles of reroute. We will be looking for signing help. Once a date is made for a work party, we will let you know

Woodstock trail system

Hello ALL — I think it’s about time I posted this. Our club had a special meeting on December 2, 2022 @ 6:00 pm. This meeting was held at Sam’s restaurant on Rt. 02. There were 12 members present & Brian Milligan. At this meeting, we had about a half hours’ worth of discussion about whether or not we should take over the Woodstock trail system and incorporate it with ours. It was also discussed that we would get all their assets along with the trails. The motion was made to accept the trails & all their assets, which includes financial (approx. $6000) a Suzuki pickup truck, rock rake and various small hand tools. The motion was seconded, and the vote was unanimous to accept it all.
I hope we have enough members next year & in coming years to work on & maintain this extra 14+ miles of trail. We now total roughly 40 miles of trail. I don’t know about anyone else, but I am quite pleased & proud of the way our club is growing.
See you all in the spring!!
